The weeks just keep flying! I guess that's a good thing because I have hit that point where if I step outside one more morning and want to cry because I'm so cold I'm up and leaving. Good thing it's going to be heating up this weekend ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I meant to post more this week but between working 62 hours and trying to get my workouts in it just wasn't possible. I'm cooking tonight so hopefully I'll have a recipe for ya'll soon. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Last Friday I was so happy because people participated in my Brag About It!! Shout Outs go to my Aunt Julie for being a kick ass momma who didn't burn the house down and got her workouts in, my dad (Dougie) for losing another 1.8 pounds, my mom (Kati) for getting her full 8 hours of sleep and workouts in despite horrible circumstances, and Rochelle (aka my second momma) for raising 2 amazing children (I can vouch for one since she is my roommate and best friend!) So that's 2 more people than last week! Woo woo! Maybe I'll get lucky and get 5 people this week :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsfBP7DVOD7suCXCl7laeoLJswkNZRPjuOVUQuDGL7xU9yhDml-vGkBE465vAoqAhhKUPnDDlKoM-bSxHtTijNvU8NPip1yaPGULVvBJ-mPOcTIHI8aZefO4pZmdWYDRl5ykxHKabnwuM/s1600/Slide1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsfBP7DVOD7suCXCl7laeoLJswkNZRPjuOVUQuDGL7xU9yhDml-vGkBE465vAoqAhhKUPnDDlKoM-bSxHtTijNvU8NPip1yaPGULVvBJ-mPOcTIHI8aZefO4pZmdWYDRl5ykxHKabnwuM/s1600/Slide1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I was thinking about this post all week and couldn't think what I was going to say... I just realized I had a huge accomplishment this week!! 30 Day Challenge is over and I made it!!!! I survived NO: pizza, ice cream, fast food, <u style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">alcohol</u>, or sweets for an entire 30 days! While I was reflecting on the 30 day challenge I decided it really wasn't that bad. My roommate and I celebrated our victory with pizza the size of our face at Papa Keno's and I realized how badly I wanted BBQ Chicken pizza... I was in a happy place last night :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then I realized I may have compensated by eating more peanut butter..... Ummm... Oopss.. So I've started another 30 Day Challenge with myself. NO: <u style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">PEANUT BUTTER</u> (not including pb2, I don't really want to go through withdrawal, and detox just isn't my thing ;) ), cereal, or prepackaged popcorn. I have a feeling this is going to be a little more rough than the last challenge. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>What are you going to brag about this week?</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Want to join my challenge with me?! </b>You've only missed 2 days, and we can have one big party with peanut butter, peanut butter cheerios, peanut butter m&m's and kettle corn when it's all over :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17757761588953177900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2894525592263127716.post-26352818855195937322015-02-27T02:00:00.000-08:002015-02-27T05:24:20.465-08:00Brag About It #2<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Okayy I'm going to call you guys, my readers, out a little bit. I was super excited about my "Brag About It" idea and only got a few responses!! Come on people! I know ya'll are doing great stuff every week and I want to know about it! Like I said in my last post. People do not spend enough time congratulating themselves. Most people (myself included) spend their time thinking about the things they haven't accomplished and this post is intended to change that for a couple of minutes a week. I know you can do it!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Sooo let's try this again :) </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhi-m-5uZRVv4fJ4J9O7mfEvGtUEAKOU2hyIbZVKzN7rs4xNsprDqc5c_apkDl4DtkkIhwWJ7Br_L7qVioJWkzA5ggXzc6lE8aStlwxlMOo92OeHmEcSn75VzWPSvpf78ZAnSO2bQ17rY/s1600/Slide1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhi-m-5uZRVv4fJ4J9O7mfEvGtUEAKOU2hyIbZVKzN7rs4xNsprDqc5c_apkDl4DtkkIhwWJ7Br_L7qVioJWkzA5ggXzc6lE8aStlwxlMOo92OeHmEcSn75VzWPSvpf78ZAnSO2bQ17rY/s1600/Slide1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This week has been a rough one for me. There's just been a lot of personal stuff I've been going through that has taken me on a nice emotional roller coaster (yuck!). In the past when I've gone through these challenges I would turn to food and literally try to eat my emotions away! This time was different. I didn't let this personal stuff get in the way of my goals and I turned to the gym and my fitness classes to distract me for a bit! When I wasn't at the gym I made sure and drank extra water and stuck to the meal plan. Woo Woo!! This is HUGE for me people, I tell ya. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now it's your turn. It can be as small as holding the door open for a stranger, a fitness goal you've met, or something random that made you smile this week. Speak up! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be working at the hospital :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>

I am currently sitting in Starbucks typing up this post. I went to a yoga class super early this morning and had some time to kill before work so thought it was a great opportunity to treat myself to some Starbucks! It is so cold outside and this soup would be perfect for dinner tonight! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have been in love with anything with avocado's lately. So when I saw the picture for this soup, and it had avocado's on top I said "Um yep, I'm making this." </span><br />

Oh My!<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Hello! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Hope everyone has had a great weekend. I had the weekend off.... What?! I know! This is the first weekend I remember having off where I have stayed in town and have done what ever the heck I want. I have loved every single second of it! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><u>Workouts</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I woke up early yesterday morning to go to a Group Power class at the gym with my roommate. That gym. was. PACKED! It was a blast though. I love working out with Laura we have such a good time :) After that workout I headed over to Title Boxing in Lawrence to meet up with my friend Mallory! She has been a member for a while and loves it so I thought I'd go check it out! After learning how to wrap my hands I was ready for this new workout! It was a freaking blast, and I am super sore today. Of course, now I want to join and have to decide if I want to swing paying for 2 gym memberships... Help!!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've also been doing some fun treadmill workouts I have found on Pinterest (what did people do without this site?). When I look for treadmill workouts I look for plans that change the inclines and speeds continuously. I've been getting my butt handed to me and it's been great. I've also been hitting up Group Cycle, Group Power, the stairstepper (UGH), and a yoga class every week. So that's what's been going on with that!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><u>Concerts</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I love music. Seriously. I grew up listening to classic rock with my dad, and country with my mom. A very large majority of my family (including extended family) are all very musical. I love listening to them all sing.. You are all amazing and my wedding is going to be like a dang concert :) </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anywayyyy, back to music! I love concerts, from big names in huge arenas, to the little guys at random bars, I love it all! On Thursday I went to PBR Big Sky in Kansas City to see one of my favorite artists perform. Cody Johnson is a great country singer and we had a blast! I'll be super sad when he goes big and I have to pay more than $10 to see him but he deserves to make it big. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've also recently purchased my tickets for the concerts at the Cricket Ampitheatre! Holy crap, it is a steal!!! I get to see Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, and Dierks Bentely (including all of their amazing opening acts) for $109. Hellooo!! One of my coworkers is going to Tim McGraw with me, and my mom is going to Lady A with me. That means I have extra tickets for Luke and Dierks. I accepts gifts ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The last concert I am super excited for is AC/DC at Wrigley field in September. I have grown up listening to AC/DC, I learned how to play air guitar while mimicking my dad doing it to "You Shook Me All Night Long." Not only are we huge AC/DC fans, but we are also Chicago Cubs fans! I know, I know the Cubs are terrible, but I love Chicago and Wrigley Field is the closest thing to heaven I have ever been to. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So I have a lot of things to look forward to!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><u>Things</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Other than working out and planning all of these shenanigans I really haven't been up to a whole lot. It was nice having this weekend off. I was able to get a ton of meal prep done! I have a ton of egg white oatmeal, bags of veggies, chicken salad made with greek yogurt, and a couple of dinner meals ready for the week. I've been a busy girl :) Speaking of recipes! I rely heavily on Pinterest for recipes so if you are wondering what I've been up to go check this <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/aeggen15/recipe-s-i-recommend/" target="_blank">page</a> out!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtSJrz-ASQu26RnhNcjesnBcI-JrYMUIj88-jdQtB5PpobE_DjVGQwt8_ExhVD6ZarA1XyccZBkp_Sgw9JR2DaWnGV4ajEiqESeUZ4XtQxh6tDf9imcN6k6cauZdnJi8zvKKI4DNv8tpg/s1600/MjAxMy0zYjhiYTE0NWE5YzkyZjIz.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtSJrz-ASQu26RnhNcjesnBcI-JrYMUIj88-jdQtB5PpobE_DjVGQwt8_ExhVD6ZarA1XyccZBkp_Sgw9JR2DaWnGV4ajEiqESeUZ4XtQxh6tDf9imcN6k6cauZdnJi8zvKKI4DNv8tpg/s1600/MjAxMy0zYjhiYTE0NWE5YzkyZjIz.png" height="224" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Since I talked about Pinterest a hundred times in this post :)</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So this post has been a whole lot of rambling, thanks for sticking with me :) Maybe one day I'll have exciting things to talk about... </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>How was your weekend?</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>How do you find recipes?</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

It's actually my Monday (wah wah) but that's okay :) I hope everyone has some fun plans for this weekend! Or no plans... I prefer the latter, just because I don't remember the last time I've had a weekend like that! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I want to start something new on my blog! But in order for it to work I'm going to need to reader interaction :) That means YOU! I have noticed people are very good at putting themselves down. I hear more "I need to do this better, I wish I could do ___, etc." and not enough people building themselves up! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So the challenge is: <b>Every Friday I will make a post about something(s) I have done that I was proud of that week, and you must respond by bragging about yourself as well! </b>You can either comment on the post itself or on the Facebook link, doesn't matter which one! You can brag about literally everything! It can be about your weight loss, healthy lifestyle, fitness, work, something you did at home... The list goes on and on and on. I can't wait to read everyone's comments!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm really excited about this new post and I hope my readers are as well. I'll be so sad if it doesn't work out :( Sooo let's not let that happen :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi26nTuLfJBPuXAXHq1sWWEmuVdWIuNveqYL_8vAC46p475pxY8y-FS_xO0AxoI4RjCU1sOI31C5lEy8QlhhMkqJZIkPneOeHDjxerqISgbab4wz2Z8yYU_k6TvJVbKslXzqzGJgG_oTQk/s1600/Slide1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi26nTuLfJBPuXAXHq1sWWEmuVdWIuNveqYL_8vAC46p475pxY8y-FS_xO0AxoI4RjCU1sOI31C5lEy8QlhhMkqJZIkPneOeHDjxerqISgbab4wz2Z8yYU_k6TvJVbKslXzqzGJgG_oTQk/s1600/Slide1.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Week #1</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Yesterday I was at my cardio class with my favorite fitness instructor. She came up and chatted with me before the class and said "You're usually a Group Power girl right?" Then she pointed to where I had been set up and said "You were right there. Girl you have been kicking some serious butt in that class!" I was so proud of myself! The class was packed and the instructor (whom I have a major girl crush on) noticed me working my butt off! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am also proud of myself because I did some serious meal prep this week. I have an 8 day in a row stretch for work and knew if I wanted to stick to my healthy eating I had to do it! I now have egg white oatmeal, tuna/avocado salad/ and crockpot chicken fajita soup waiting for me in the fridge! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Now it's your turn! Brag About It!!!!</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>What are you most proud of this week?</b></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17757761588953177900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2894525592263127716.post-47211151439116414742015-02-12T10:16:00.001-08:002015-02-12T11:35:59.771-08:00Day In the Life: Day Off Edition<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Happy Thursday! It is Thursday right? When I get consecutive days off in a row I get a little confused..... </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am enjoying day off #2 today! Like I said yesterday, day's off have been rare so when I get them I take full advantage! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Last night I went to dinner with some of my friends I met through working at St. Francis. It was great to catch up with them! Congrats to Stacy for getting engaged! Props to you for planning a wedding in 3 and a half months!! You are crazy girl :) </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When I got home I was super excited to finish a movie I started on Netflix called Remembrance. (it was an alright movie)</span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And then this popped up saying too many people were using our Netflix.. This is becoming a nightly recurrence! But instead of paying for my account I'll just wait my turn :) A couple nights ago we seriously had a schedule for when people could get on it. Ridiculous.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I woke up a little early this morning so decided I would make some coffee and watch the Today show. Some of my favorite things: Hazelnut coffee, the Today show, and can't forget Willie :) (I've had her since I was a baby...) Yes, I am a 23 year old who sleeps with a stuffed animal every night.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I got my butt out of bed and headed to the gym. At first I planned on going to Group Cycle (a spin class) but then I remembered my favorite instructor, Sara, was teaching a cardio class and decided to try that. Oh My Lord.... I'm so happy I chose to go but my body was not! She seriously knows how to kick your butt! After this 60 minute cardio class I headed up to the new Yoga room for a 60 minute Yoga class! I'm not really a fan of Yoga but I know how good it is for you so I'm really trying to get to one class a week. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Hello sweaty Abbi!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Yoga class was actually really good and the 60 minutes flew! It was 72 degrees in our room and I was dyingg. How do people do hot yoga classes?! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When I got home I fixed myself some lunch, and of course more coffee... The rest of the day I'm just going to hang out and read my book! I'm reading One Plus One by JoJo Moyes right now. She is a great author and have read a couple of her other books! I set my goal on goodreads to read 40 books in 2015 and I've only read 3 so far.... I need to get going! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'll be going to a Group Cycle class tonight then am going to dig into this yummy taco soup that's in the crockpot.. Can't Wait!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

How has everyone been? I hope everyone has had a great 2015 so far. I just recently spent some time with my family and they mentioned more than once that they sure miss seeing my blog posts... Okay, okay I got the hint! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My 2015 has been great so far! I pretty much worked January away (I had 4 days off in January) and have slowed down a bit in February. Other than working I have been spending a ton of time in the gym! What's better than making money and getting fit? I figured I should have thrown some fun in the mix so it was perfect timing to go home for my goddaughter, Addyson's, baptism!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here are some things I've been up to in 2015!</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have seen so many people going to these painting nights where you paint a picture on a canvas and drink wine! I thought it would be perfect for something my mom, aunt, cousin could do while I was home! I learned that I am not artistic... But that I am great at acting helpless so the artist helped me paint my picture.. Of course the parts she didn't help with I messed up royally and my picture got made fun of the rest of the night :(</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We had a blast!! Thanks Uncorked in Omaha!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So that's pretty much what I've been up to lately! I almost forgot my roommate, Laura, asked me to do a 30 day challenge with her. I said yes before she told me the details..... I got myself into the 30 day challenge from hell.... NO: pizza, ice cream, sweets (including everything our patients bring us), fast food, and alcohol.... We are on Day 9 and have both stuck to it! Since I did this challenge that meant no drinking at our painting night... I firmly believe this is the reason my painting looked like a 3rd grader did it. Thanks Laura. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The most recent highlight of 2015 was getting my brand new desk my grandpa made for me! This picture doesn't do it justice. He did an amazing job. I am so blessed to have such a talented grandpa who put so much and time effort into making this for me. Not only did he make this desk for me, but him and Grandma also drove down to Lawrence to deliver it! It was great having them here. We went to dinner and talked about when they grew up, how they met, and how much things have changed in the 50+ years they've been married. I just love them so much and am so happy they made the trip to Lawrence! I also worried about them the entire 6 hour trip they had back to Crofton and was so relieved when they got home. I must have a little bit of my Grandma in me :) I am truly blessed to have such great grandparents! Thanks for the desk Grandpa, I will find that hidden note one of these days!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Any good workout songs you've been listening to? </b>My workout playlist is in need of some new songs! New and old :)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>We're having a debate in our house: Are dark chocolate dusted (not covered in chocolate) almonds a sweet? </b>I say heck no! They barely even taste like chocolate. Laura says they are... She's a hard ass and I say I don't care what she says :)</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It's finally my day off for the week and I haven't had a day off where I haven't had errands to run in a very long time. So, I plan on staying in bed, watching Netflix until I have to go to the gym later tonight. Speaking of the gym, I'm super excited because I've convinced my roommate to come to Group Power with me! <span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have been eating these stuffed peppers for a week now, but I haven't gotten sick of them! That means they really are that good. The thing I loved about this recipe is I made 2 less peppers and used the left over stuffing for a burrito bowl, you would also use it in a taco if you would like. </span><br />

I will be spending my day off on my couch with a box of kleenex, hot tea, and my kindle. I also just had my first neti pot experience and it was awful, but I can finally breath out of my nose! </span><div>

I know it was a couple of days ago but I am just resting up from my vacation week and work this weekend! </span><div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here's a little wrap up from my Thanksgiving vacation at home! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I got to go home for a whole 5 days! I haven't done that in years and it was so nice to have time to spend with family. The night I got home we went to Mockingjay at a movie theatre in Omaha. We never go to movies so it was a lot of fun to go out with my parents and brother! The best part, other than dad paying of course ;), were the recliner seats.. Aww I am never going to another movie theatre again! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDfEJzS1nfm-KK7gFfuo2IgP3-8yJk300n0Fm6B0r4EJ7mXdOy4qQ29HL6D4QbF7gqAwu3vRRyDDDtOWIkngv762JFILYamG05fgFx7h9gNlTSFNmuBRZjQx7-crvSQC_k7Hs1JO0LIf8/s1600/IMG_0039.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDfEJzS1nfm-KK7gFfuo2IgP3-8yJk300n0Fm6B0r4EJ7mXdOy4qQ29HL6D4QbF7gqAwu3vRRyDDDtOWIkngv762JFILYamG05fgFx7h9gNlTSFNmuBRZjQx7-crvSQC_k7Hs1JO0LIf8/s1600/IMG_0039.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The fam and I at the movie! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The next day I went and did a killer workout with my mom then we headed over to Hyvee to eat with my little brother! After lunch we headed to Omaha to get some Christmas shopping done! When my dad got home he offered to help me clean my car, and by help he really meant he was going to do it for me. He's the best :) The only chore I was allowed to do was clean the tires... Thanks dad! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #666666;">My lunch date :)</span></div>
<br />
After that I was exhausted and just hung out and watched the movie Sex Tape with my brother while my mom decorated the Christmas tree. Sex Tape is hilarious! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We headed up to Crofton, NE to spend a couple days with my dads side of the family. I did a lot of eating, drinking, and reading and got to spend a ton of time with my family! This year we are thankful for my baby cousin Addyson, whom I got to cuddle for many hours. I love going up to Crofton because there are no schedules or agendas and we're all crammed in one house for days. We taught my cousin how to play Phase 10 (a huge hit in our family) and it was just a great couple of days to relax!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">On Friday I spent 6 hours in a car and got back to Lawrence at about 8 at night. I unpacked and went straight to bed so I could wake up early for work :/ </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">That pretty much sums up my Thanksgiving vacation! I did make a crockpot breakfast casserole for brunch on Friday so I'll get that up on here soon! I'm also sitting here waiting for a pumpkin banana bread to come out of the oven, and will be making a yummy dinner... So plenty of recipes coming your way! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have had many different motivations over the years. My motivation when I lost 30 pounds a couple of years ago was my spring break trip! It was a great motivator, who wants to be the beached whale around a bunch of hot college kids?! But when we got back I went crazy! Ate what ever I wanted, drank when ever my friends wanted to go out, and forgot how to workout. I found myself at the highest weight I've ever been and had no idea what happened! I blamed it on not having something to motivate me.... Wrong! I've learned I can not use things like a trip, weddings, or other life moments as a motivation because once they are gone then what do I have? </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Some people can use statements like "I want to fit into those pants I used to wear" or "I want to be at such and such weight" as motivators. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me either. I'm tellin' ya... I'm complicated!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The other day I went to the best Group Power class I have ever been to. I was surrounded by a bunch of 60-70 year olds who were lifting weights comparable to mine! I also overheard woman in her mid 60's talking about this hip-hop concert she went to, and then preceded to try out some of the dance moves! It was hilarious! It also made me think, "Wow! I really hope I'm able to have that enthusiasm when I am that age!" It was also such a great class because the group wasn't afraid to get into the class. They were constantly counting down how many more squats, lunges, pushups, etc. that we had to do! They were singing, and dancing, and truly having a great time. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I left that class more energized than I've ever been after a group fitness class! I realized it is the people around me that motivate me. It's the 60 year old woman I can only hope to be one day. It's the soccer mom who has a million things to do, but makes herself a priority for an hour every day. It's the text I get from my dad that says "I've lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks!" that makes my day! It's my friend from work who stalks myfitnesspal diary and calls me out when I'm not logging everything (thanks girl!) It is my support system that gets me through this constant battle and I can not thank each and every one of you enough for the countless conversations we've had about this topic. I love all of you so much for putting up with me and am so thankful to have such a great team behind me! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>What is your motivation?</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>

You should all know, I am not the greatest baker. I feel like if you are a good cook, than your baking skills aren't as great, and vice versa. But I may be learning a thing or two when it comes to baking! My biggest problem is I forget that in baking you have to be so exact with your measurements. I tend to estimate and that has gotten me in trouble a time or two... Oops! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I believe I actually did exactly what I was supposed to with these muffins because they are amazing! They are even better than the <a href="http://alifewithgiggles.blogspot.com/2014/11/pumpkin-pie-spice-muffins.html" target="_blank">Pumpkin muffins</a> I made. (side note on those muffins: If you aren't going to eat the entire batch in 3 days freeze them!!!! Trust me.. My family and I learned that the hard way. I brought them home to show off my baking skills, little did I know they were little putrid piles of pumpkin... Yikes!) So I will not be letting that happen again and will be freezing these babies!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Enjoy!</span><br />

Happy Monday!! It is my Saturday today but it sure didn't feel like a day off! Today was the first day since I've had my fitbit that I've hit my 10,000 steps! I'm such an over-achiever and actually hit 15,000 steps for the day. No wonder I am so tired! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Along with all of my chores I did today I threw in some fun as well and headed to The Legends in Kansas City with Laura to do some shopping. We had a ton of fun and spent wayyy too much money! We have both ran out of hangers in our closets... </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Once we got back I was starvingggg but had to wait to eat until I made my meatloaf. It was so hard to wait, but I'm so happy I did, because it was amazing. This is my favorite meatloaf recipe (sorry Mom) and it is super easy to make! Enjoy!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Hope you all had a great weekend. Just wanted to stop in and say hi! I've been staying busy between working and working out at night, and I got to go home this weekend so that hasn't left much time for blogging!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Soo let's see. I've stuck to the new lifestyle plan pretty well! It's crazy how much better you feel when you eat right and workout. I really look forward to the group fitness classes, especially Group Power! I'm going to my first kick boxing class tonight so we'll see how that goes! My eating was absolutely perfect until this weekend, but I'm back on track now that I'm back in Lawrence. You have to splurge every once in a while and I save those times for when I'm home. Oh my goodness, my mom made some pretty kick ass butternut squash soup like they have at Panera and I really wish I wouldn't have ate it all last night, dang self control :(</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Speaking of this weekend... My work hubby and I headed up to Nebraska on Saturday to go to the Hoodie Allen concert with my brother and his girlfriend! I think I was more excited to eat dinner at El Bee's, but the concert was pretty fun as well! I had never been to Sokol and it's a pretty cool venue in Omaha! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">On Sunday I decided to splurge a little, and ended up buying a fitbit! So far my favorite thing about it is how it tracks my sleep! It blows my mind that it knows exactly when I was awake and asleep, how does that happen?! I'm not really sure how to use it to motivate me so if anyone has some tips I'm all ears! </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhztbl90FmFPsR6kA9WOtaif8NOTKtT8j1I1hyphenhyphenCgUZDPDSKQW62rbZ0ZXGfJTKk5m4UeZaL4BkpQcOsEKwOXJ8kLzu-PKz2evI0l6DKrlGAl3tYms7f1AFv1xPE-bSVg2wj57HD9SDH3UE/s1600/IMG_0011.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhztbl90FmFPsR6kA9WOtaif8NOTKtT8j1I1hyphenhyphenCgUZDPDSKQW62rbZ0ZXGfJTKk5m4UeZaL4BkpQcOsEKwOXJ8kLzu-PKz2evI0l6DKrlGAl3tYms7f1AFv1xPE-bSVg2wj57HD9SDH3UE/s1600/IMG_0011.PNG" height="320" width="179" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #999999; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I need to figure out how to tell it when I'm done sleeping... </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I worked this morning and got to come home early and I slept pretty much all afternoon. I'm just not feeling so great but hopefully it's just allergies and I'll feel better tomorrow! </span><br />

I can't even remember the last time I ate pancakes, and they hit the spot! </span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I found the recipe <a href="http://fit-fun-delish.com/2012/10/protein-pumpkin-pancakes.html" target="_blank">here</a>. They weren't as sweet as I was hoping but they were still pretty tasty! I think I'm going to add some truvia to my next batch. The recipe also says it serves 1, but I couldn't even eat half the batch, and it will probably turn into 3 servings for me. </span></div>

5. Add what ever you want on top! I just had sugar free syrup, but some banana on top would have been really good!</div>

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I worked all weekend, of course, so my weekend has officially started today! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It is holiday central over here right now! I am so proud of myself I waited until November 3rd to turn on Christmas music! Usually it is November 1st right on the dot. Much to my roommates dismay I have been baking with Christmas music blaring this afternoon. I also managed to talk her into watching one of my favorite Christmas(ish) movies last night, The Family Stone. I have a serious woman crush on Diane Keaton. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So anyway, back to the baking portion of this post! I have been slacking on making things with pumpkin so I'm going to be making up for it these next couple of weeks! Today I decided to try a recipe inspired by <a href="http://www.ishouldbemoppingthefloor.com/2013/09/skinny-pumpkin-spiced-muffins.html" target="_blank">this</a> post. I've been wanting low cal that I can have for a snack, or breakfast, and these looked like just the thing to try!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Pumpkin Pie Spice Muffins</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">130 calories a muffin. Serves 24</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">***I halved this recipe</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1 Box yellow cake mix</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1 Cup Water</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1 Can Pumpkin</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1 tsp pumpkin pie spice (I seriously messed up and bought poultry spice.... Improvised with some cinnamon, truvia, and ginger because that's all I had)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Directions: Preheat oven to 350. Mix ingredients w/ mixer. Pour (or spoon) mix into muffin tin (I used cupcake liners as well). Bake for 20 minutes. Enjoy!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I can't wait to try one after my run today! Stay tuned for more pumpkin goodness going on this week!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Any good pumpkin recipes I need to try?!</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>When do you start listening to Christmas music? </b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">25 days just isn't enough time to listen to christmas music! I need those 2 months :)</span><br />

I love the way I feel when I eat healthy for a long amount of time and get my butt to the gym, but some days I seriously hate doing those things more than anything in the world! It seems like I can stay on track for about a week then I slip back into my old ways. It is by far the most frustrating thing I do and I have decided I'm putting an end to it! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have tried many, many times to get into a healthy lifestyle without success and so I knew this time around I really needed to write out what I needed to do! I think the biggest speed bump for me is when there is a change in my routine. This is a huge problem that I need to get over because I work PRN (when needed) at 4 different places! My schedule during the week is never the same! Now that I have recognized what my biggest issue is I have tried to find ways around it! So let's get into the steps I am taking to make this new lifestyle a habit, and a way of life, I will be living for the rest of my life.</span><br />
<b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></b>
<b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Make A Schedule</b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I already mentioned that my schedule is always different week to week. Heck, it changes daily sometimes! For example, this week I was only scheduled to work during the night until Friday, so I planned to attend my fitness classes in the morning! Well, something came up and I am working in the morning and at night! Usually, I would have used this as an excuse not to work out but instead, I sat down with my workout calendar and replanned when I could do my workouts. That's another thing I have found helpful! I look at my work schedule and my gyms group fitness class schedule and plan which classes I can make that week, and if I'm not able to make any that day, I plan exactly what exercise I am going to do instead. These fitness calendars are becoming just as crucial as my planner!</span><br />
<b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></b>
<b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Meal Plan</b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> This is one of my favorite things about my lifestyle change! I am a HUGE planner. I live by my planner, have lists for things that won't happen in my life for years, and am thrown for a loop when my plan changes. It is one of my best and worst traits. Anyway, I use my workout calendar as my meal planner as well. On Sunday I looked at what leftovers I had in my fridge and decided I needed to make another meal that would get me through the week. I then wrote down on my calendar exactly what I would be having for dinner for that week. This is also super important for me because I don't have time to figure out what I want for dinner when I'm working nights! This step also helps me make my grocery list and ensures I'm not wasting money on food I don't need at the grocery store. </span><br />
<b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></b>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Meal Prep </b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This isn't one of my favorite parts of the lifestyle change, but it's so easy once I get my butt into the kitchen and do it! I generally only plan what I'm going to eat for dinner and just kind of figure out what I'm going to do for breakfast and lunch when I wake up. That being said I need options! I love having a stock of overnight oats with different kinds of fruit, plenty of greek yogurt, egg whites, and cottage cheese in my fridge! I also know sometimes I just need something sweet to eat! To help with these cravings, I make sure and make plenty of sugar free jello, packaged in 1/2 cup containers, and I even throw some light cool whip on top! It is the perfect little snack and only 30 calories! </span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUnlQdHDkL2xnJ2KBa_589avOzTNrh9L_UMGrSVk9n-5FcNsMMZ3HtqR99w6D5RV7fAoZOUtbJxYK5tw4Hor53ml4bihPU7eisVnUD254SX-Df6jqz_1XC7BLeVweVoAXwqBdnG7hsiNs/s1600/IMG_1722.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUnlQdHDkL2xnJ2KBa_589avOzTNrh9L_UMGrSVk9n-5FcNsMMZ3HtqR99w6D5RV7fAoZOUtbJxYK5tw4Hor53ml4bihPU7eisVnUD254SX-Df6jqz_1XC7BLeVweVoAXwqBdnG7hsiNs/s1600/IMG_1722.JPG" height="239" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span></div>

<span style="color: #999999;"> Successful Meal Prep!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8LWlFIVwJUWeShPCMWDnf-zzvVoqEGm_1B6c57IQHdwn8hUMovXBi53LUOs6svlI-nDv2aT4Q2RVt7bTUBGS5zcQkAxr9N0gsfcySqsFenM1q_b1oTHCEosgxmc9YRf9s7hqJVCPbYCU/s1600/IMG_1725.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8LWlFIVwJUWeShPCMWDnf-zzvVoqEGm_1B6c57IQHdwn8hUMovXBi53LUOs6svlI-nDv2aT4Q2RVt7bTUBGS5zcQkAxr9N0gsfcySqsFenM1q_b1oTHCEosgxmc9YRf9s7hqJVCPbYCU/s1600/IMG_1725.JPG" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<span style="color: #999999; text-align: center;"> <span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> A look into my fridge! So many containers</span></span><br />
<b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Join a Gym</b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> This is part of the change I have been putting off for a very long time. Ever since I was a Freshman in high school I have gone to group fitness classes, my favorite being Body Pump. When I went to Washburn I had access to a gym that had group fitness classes! It wasn't until I moved to Kansas City that I didn't have access to a gym. My apartment complex had a nice work out facility but I really missed my group exercise classes! It was so hard to motivate myself, and I felt like there was nothing holding me accountable! I finally bit the bullet and joined a gym. I have only been a member for a couple of days but am already loving it! I am meeting with a personal trainer 3 times my first month, then once a month after that (this is all included in my fees)! I am not looking forward to my fitness test on Monday, but I am looking forward the months where I check back with the personal trainer and where I get to see the improvements I am making! I have also already taken 3 group fitness classes (Group Cycle, Group Power (pretty much body pump), and Yoga)! The best thing about group fitness classes is that they are held at certain times, and I am forced to get to the gym or I will miss it! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Count my Calories </b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This is </span><u style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">crucial</u><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">. Ya, it is so important I had to emphasize it 3 different ways! Every time I have fallen off the wagon it is because I failed to use myFitnessPal. This app is seriously my life line. My biggest struggle is when I go off of my diet I don't want to track it on myFitnessPal, so that is something I am really going to work on this go around! myFitnessPal is so great because there are days where I'm just not getting enough calories. Yesterday I had to come home at 9 at night and eat cottage cheese just to hit my calories for that day. Today on the other hand, I had to really watch what I ate for dinner because I was close to going over my calories for the day! It really makes me conscious of what I'm eating!</span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQvYAfEpSx0IBQRq8mM9iZCifLqT49hVuvIfN6kIrdEWSWoI-31MXMid3WPy7-fwOg8MNDxyPG9Vc6qIc9Y2dvzEsqBFnci3zlEKcxeAt8mTY_dKTj95oIeRu-mZR5bkSpX7IMUFPrcUw/s1600/IMG_1726.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQvYAfEpSx0IBQRq8mM9iZCifLqT49hVuvIfN6kIrdEWSWoI-31MXMid3WPy7-fwOg8MNDxyPG9Vc6qIc9Y2dvzEsqBFnci3zlEKcxeAt8mTY_dKTj95oIeRu-mZR5bkSpX7IMUFPrcUw/s1600/IMG_1726.PNG" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #999999;">Just a typical day!</span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Follow the Plan </b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Okay, I'm not perfect. I love chocolate, ice cream, pizza, and beer, and this lifestyle change is NEVER going to change that about me. I know there are going to be days where I go over my calorie count, or my schedule doesn't allow for me to work out. Or, I'm visiting home and my dad makes me do a shot of Fireball every time the Huskers score, which ends up being 7 shots and, well shoot now I'm drunk and that queso looks damn good! Can you tell this has happened a time or two? Anyway, it'll probably happen again, and I'm going to wake up the next morning, get an extra workout in and get back on the plan! The only way I'm going to make this lifestyle change permanent is if I make it a part of my day-to-day life and allow myself to go off the plan every once in a while. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSas1jEpbfmxUzBMSd02nP5VAWva6DS0KX42a7Y7LIZBxXRi-sB31c5x32GGqUTADimU1twrooLnphYzyYcfLg_L6nN4zKV5G5uPsAcLq7zDjXhu-9I1ivAZ0Wi_5HZqdhNByC9udOIIM/s1600/IMG_1727.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSas1jEpbfmxUzBMSd02nP5VAWva6DS0KX42a7Y7LIZBxXRi-sB31c5x32GGqUTADimU1twrooLnphYzyYcfLg_L6nN4zKV5G5uPsAcLq7zDjXhu-9I1ivAZ0Wi_5HZqdhNByC9udOIIM/s1600/IMG_1727.JPG" height="317" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #999999;">Thanks for the pic Aunt Julie!</span></span></div>
<b style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Have fun! </b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This has been a very daunting change that I have been putting off for years. I have always been afraid I'm going to miss out on a fun night with my friends, or a great meal because of it! I'm slowly learning I can still have fun while sticking to my goals! And I am finding I am having so much more fun because I'm not constantly thinking about my food choices, and my body image. So here's to a new, healthy lifestyle full of some good food and great workouts!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

This is by far my favorite meal to make in the crockpot! I got it from the Skinnytaste blog! If you haven't heard of it, go check it out because she does an amazing job of breaking down the nutrients (eliminates a huge step for me!) and her recipes are so good! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">You can find the recipe <span style="color: black;"><a href="http://www.skinnytaste.com/2008/11/crock-pot-chicken-taco-chili-4-pts.html#_a5y_p=1017432" target="_blank">here</a>, the nutrients information is as at the bottom! Also, if you are a Weight Watchers person she breaks everything down into points. I'm tellin ya, the woman is amazing!</span></span><br />

<span style="color: #999999; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Speaking of the three girls in the family, the girl on the right is my cousin Hannah! She is in college at UNL and I love it because she is always able to come hang out with me when I come home! It is always so fun to just hang out with her, catch up on our TV shows, talk about school, and just life in general! I am so fortunate to be so close to her! My mom asked me that weekend "If you were to get married tomorrow would Hannah be in the wedding?" I replied "Of Course!" Love you Hannah!!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There was also a Husker game when I was home so my parents had one of their infamous Husker parties! I got to see so many family members and eat so much food!! When the game was over some of my cousins and my family had a great impromptu karaoke session which included head banging with my cousin Keisha. *side note* We gave ourselves whiplash at my cousin Meredith's wedding from doing this, and were NOT supposed to be doing this again. Note to self, I really am going to stop head banging one of these days*end of note* Thank goodness I didn't wake up with severe whiplash this time around! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">On Sunday it was my little cousin Carter's birthday! Hannah decided it would be fun to take them to the Henry Doorly Zoo! We had never really hung out with the boys without their parents before and I think we all had a great time! This was confirmed with Carter man exclaimed "Guys, are we having a good time?!" It was adorable. They are the best behaved kids and hopefully we can all do something together again soon! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Happy Monday! I have had a very eventful couple of weeks and have had no time for blogging! To make up for it I am bringing you one of my favorite meals EVER! It is an unwritten rule that when ever we go and visit my grandparents in Crofton, NE my grandma has to make these meatballs or I am not a happy person. Finally, she gave us the recipe and I can make them when ever I want :) </span></div>

As you know, this is my fourth job, so that means I have been to my fair share of orientations. I was not looking forward to it, to say the least! The first two days I sat through the typical orientation presentations, but the third day I got to experience a customer service class. I didn't know what to expect, but I definitely didn't expect the day full of engaging conversation that I got! </span><br />
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have already written a post about how I chose the best career in the world! You can read that <a href="http://alifewithgiggles.blogspot.com/2013/11/radiation-therapist-most-rewarding.html" target="_blank">here</a> if you missed it. But after taking this class I realized why the health care field is so special. I am strange, I love the hospital setting, I always have. Most people look at me so strange when I say this, but let me explain why. In the hospital there are babies born, people who are terminally ill, patients going in for surgery, others in the emergency department, and many people just there for support. In all of these situations most people are not comfortable with the hospital, and do not understand the medical field. This causes anxiety and stress. I have always found the hospital to be an intriguing place. I have always wondered what is going on with the person I passed in the hallways. "Did they just have a baby? Is there Grandpa dying too? What surgery did that person have? Why does that woman look so sad?" I was so excited when I got to start working in the hospital because I finally had some control over these people's experience! I could ask how they were doing without looking like a busy body. I could make them feel better, I could do something for them! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If you have a second go watch this video. It does a great job of showing all the different emotions that are running around the hospital on a daily basis. It is a great video and really opened my eyes. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><object width="320" height="266" class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="https://ytimg.googleusercontent.com/vi/cDDWvj_q-o8/0.jpg"><param name="movie" value="https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/cDDWvj_q-o8&source=uds" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/cDDWvj_q-o8&source=uds" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">After watching this video I realized how much my patients really depend on me to make them more comfortable. It really hit home why I chose the medical field. People who choose to go into the medical field are there to heal (most times), support, and nurture patients. It truly takes a special kind of person to work in the medical field. From the video you see all of the different emotions we work with! We make the woman waiting for a new heart as comfortable as possible, and try to ease her stress. We provide services to the man who has no idea how he is going to help his wife who just had a stroke. Good medical professionals are the people who are selfless, who make their patients feel like they are the best thing that has happened to them all day. The greatest feeling in the world is when I know I was a little piece of positive in my patient's day. I love joking around with them, hearing their story, or just smiling at them when I know they don't want to talk. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I think every person in the medical field should have to watch that video. It shows that everyone, not just patients, are going through things. It really made me realize how much a simple smile in the hallways could brighten someone's day! So, if you work in the medical field, or are simply visiting a hospital setting, make it a goal to smile at someone. I dare you to say "Hi." You never know what that simple gesture might do for someone! </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am so thankful I get to work with some of the most selfless, caring people in the world. I'm going to end this post with a quote I heard yesterday that I think should be plastered all over every medical facility. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #274e13; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"<b>The patient doesn't care how much you know until they know how much you care." </b></span></div>

<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I love throwing things into my crockpot, leaving for the day, and coming home to the best smell in the world! Crockpots are amazing, the end. It is so easy to go buy some meat and a bottle of what ever sauce you'd like and throw them together and let them cook! I do this very regularly, as it's cheap and easy. I had no clue what to eat with these so I thought I'd try this roasted broccoli r<a href="http://myfridgefood.com/recipes/salads-and-sides/parmesan-roasted-broccoli/#6ehUzlCAjFlWqlFr.32" target="_blank">ecipe</a> I found on Pinterest! (How did people cook/bake before Pinterest?)</span><br />

<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I bought 3 thick cut porkchops and a bottle of sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. Threw them in the crockpot with a cup of water and let them cook for about 5-6 hours on low. </span><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Besides working all weekend I actually did some fun things for a change. On Friday I went to my first Sporting KC soccer game with my friends Kaylie and Laura. Sporting KC is the professional soccer team in Kansas City! I'm not even going to pretend that I am a soccer fun but it was a fun time, besides it raining. We went to Yard House for dinner, which is my favorite restaurant in the Legends! They have over 200 beers on tap! I tried Woodchuck's pumpkin beer and liked it a lot! I also recommend getting the Swordfish Tacos.. They are amazing. Soo back to the game. We stayed until the 70th minute, without seeing any goals... then decided ice cream was a better idea. Turns out they ended up scoring 2 goals when we left, and are going to the playoffs!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Saturday I worked then headed up to Holton, KS! Kaylie and her husband had their friends over for a little get together and it was great to see everyone! I was sad I had to leave early!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Tonight I'm just catching up on laundry and hanging out! I have orientation for my job at KU Monday-Wednesday, which means I have to wake up super early, and look presentable :( Parking at the hospital is absolutely ridiculous and it gives me anxiety just thinking about it! So I have a fun couple of days ahead..... Have I mentioned one of the reasons I went into the medical field is so I can wear scrubs every day of my life? Finding business casual outfits for three days is going to be a struggle!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Keep a look out this week, I have a couple of recipe's I'm going to be working on! Other than that I'm just going to be anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new baby cousin!</span></div>

But I do love Meg Ryan), talked to my Momma for a bit (love you Ma!) then decided I should probably head to the gym. </span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I</span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">'ve been trying to get back into this whole exercise thing again... It is seriously a struggle, everyday... But I had a new workout I wanted to try out this morning! Let me tell ya, this thing wants to kill you. Shoutout to Kristina at work for this workout, I'm sure I will thank you one day ;)</span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>"I Swear I'm Going to Die On This Treadmill" Sprints:</b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Incline: 5.5</b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Speed: 9.5</b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Run- 20 Seconds, Rest (jump off to sides)- 40 seconds</b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>Do this for 20 minutes!</b></span><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So when Kristina told me about this I thought "You run for 20 seconds and get to rest the rest of that minute... There's no way it's that hard..." Haha. Jokes on me! Confession: I've made it 8 minutes both times I've tried it... This time I walked for 5 minutes and continued 10 more minutes of sprints at an incline of 4.0 and speed of 8.5. I'm determined I'm going to make it through this whole workout one day, just not today... </span><br />

Which didn't turn out quite how they were supposed to but that's probably because I never follow instructions... oops! I'm going to spend the rest of the day bingeing on Scandal until I have to go to work. Have a good Thursday everyone! </span><br />

<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I tried this recipe out last night and it was pretty good! The <a href="http://www.grouprecipes.com/48641/cheese-tortellini-soup-weight-watchers.html" target="_blank">recipe</a> I followed only made enough for 2 servings but I stretched it out to at least 3. This is super easy if you are in a hurry or just don't want to work hard to make dinner. It took about 10 minutes! </span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Also, if you are counting calories it is 234 calories for 1 cup!</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Cheese Tortellini Soup:</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">3 Cups beef stock (I used 4)</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1 Cup Cheese Tortellini (frozen or regular) (I used almost 2 cups)</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I Cup Frozen Peas (I used an entire bag, and it was probably too much)</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">2 Tbs chopped tomatoes (I used canned diced tomatoes)</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">3/4 tsp B</span><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">asil (I used 1 1/2 tsp)</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">3/4 tsp Oregano (I used 1/12 tsp)</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Instructions:</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Throw all ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. Let simmer for another 5-6 minutes, or until you think tortellini is done!</span><br />
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPSgsw9fotpBh7r_XHMakP2BvL4kyxB5tJDHtuBdcgdnjXkoUquOzZzXzPl38DlaF6VU5Fgi5lFZzavKE_Z_sMtGeDcAGuska1P2-bSc14PoF8FXVqc3x52eKLWbpl2-la9995pMTbtUc/s1600/IMG_1682.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPSgsw9fotpBh7r_XHMakP2BvL4kyxB5tJDHtuBdcgdnjXkoUquOzZzXzPl38DlaF6VU5Fgi5lFZzavKE_Z_sMtGeDcAGuska1P2-bSc14PoF8FXVqc3x52eKLWbpl2-la9995pMTbtUc/s1600/IMG_1682.jpg" height="320" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #999999; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So it's not the prettiest soup, but I promise it's good!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #999999; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Enjoy!</span></div>
